Santiago joined Building State Capability’s (BSC) teaching team for “Getting Things Done 2023” and “Leading Economic Growth (2023, 2024).” He is also a Weatherhead Visiting Scholar/Fellow and a John F. Kennedy Fellow at Harvard University.
Before joining BSC, he served as Deputy Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Energy in Mexico and as senior advisor to the Mexican Chamber of Deputies on sustainability and the environment. He has also held several senior consultant positions at the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank, the International Energy Agency, and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. Globally, Santiago was chairman of the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation and co-led the Energy Efficiency and Energy Transitions Finance Working Group of the G20. In academia, he has taught at many universities, including the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
Santiago holds a master’s in public administration, a master’s in government, and a master’s in history from Harvard University. He also earned a master’s in sustainability leadership from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of the Americas.
