Projects
BSC led a PDIA for Education Systems online action learning program for Education Development Trust, funded by United Kingdom’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
Teams from Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Malawi, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Zambia participated in this program.
PDIA for Education Systems
September – December 2022
The team from Ethiopia focused on:
Problem: Not enough time spent on quality teaching
Key Takeaways:
- Iterating on the problem statement and talking to others (especially in the frontline) helps to better understand a problem rather than jumping to solutions.
- Authorization is important and can be built. Need to trust authorizers, not see them as obstacles. Understand and empathize with the politics and pressures whilst also trying things that are politically acceptable and see what works.
- Iterating on local solutions to local problems. Locals can own the problems and try to solve them knowing the politics, context, and motivations.
