PDIA for Education Systems
September – December 2022
The team from Malawi focused on:
Problem: 87% of Children in Malawi are not effectively acquiring basic foundational skills
Key takeaways:
- Systems and endemic problems are (re)solvable but require clear understanding of the context and taking iterative and consistent small actions while engaging relevant stakeholders and reflecting to learn and increase the change space with each next step.
- Working with engaged and effectively led teams are a key to PDIA’s success, in any sector or unit, but special attention must be paid to expanding the change space, especially where authorization is dynamic.
- Individuals engaging in PDIA should be more open to speaking with people and asking important questions. This is how you discover diamonds hidden under the surface somewhere, which you may just need to dust-off and collaboratively cut into desirable shapes for the “problem solved” as you iterate.
