Awab Elmesbah is a former Teaching and Research Assistant for Building State Capability. He served as a TA for our Leading Economic Growth Executive Program, analyzed evaluation data, and identified ways to communicate the impact of using Problem-Driven Iterative Adaptation (PDIA) on government behavior and capabilities (February – December 2021). He also completed the PDIA in Action class (MLD103M) while at HKS.
His interests span the challenges of government delivery and economic transformation in fragile contexts in Sub-Saharan Africa. Awab has worked in policy research, advice, teaching, and communication. He helped train government officials, advised government agencies on policy challenges, facilitated cross-sector multistakeholder policy dialogues on pressing public issues, and partnered with civil society leaders on civic education programs.
Awab holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School, a Master’s in African Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Khartoum.
